Do all Americans suffer from conspiracy-theory-its? You have a 2 party system that results in lots of in-fighting within each party and all-out war between them. Layer that with corporate funding (self-interest) AND a misguided notion of what ” socialism” is. My country suffers from the former two but we have a more clear idea of the difference between “socialism” and “social programs.” Obama would be a moderate right winger in Canada. We’d call him a conservative with a heart.
It’s sad when you’ve had what were once among the most powerful productive industries in the world screaming for the Government to take the burden of health insurance and pensions off of their hands for years now all being overruled over and over again by the speculative, parasitic insurance racket. We’re long past the tipping point of decline if we’re ignoring even powerful industry leaders in favor of protecting legalized gambling on human life.
I’ve heard the bill passed. The bill is a freaking joke. Bailout money to the insurance company. I’m pretty pissed off. I can only hope that President Obama vetos the bill. But it’s not likey. If he signs that bill, he lost me.
Removing the ability of Health Insurance companies to buy muck like Max Baucus is more important than getting rid of the filibuster.
Public campaigns with heavy audits on all politicians to make sure they don’t get free vacations from Health Care(Max Baucus) or no interest loans(like Senator Dodd).
With the exception of treaties, impeachment convictions, and amendments to the Constitution, anything–not just budgetary reconciliation bills–can pass the Senate with only 51 votes. Everyone knows this, as we went through a fight over it just four years ago:
He doesn’t like people saying he’s finally woken up? Tough, he wasted an entire year kissing Obama’s ass. And screaming at anyone who tried to point out the obvious evidence that he’s a centrist traitor. Malloy sure hasn’t been shy about hating the Clintons’ guts for being corporatists, while coddling the equally corporatist Obama far longer than was justified. That wasn’t truth-seeking, that was kool-aid drinking.
@TIEpilot918 Capitalism is certainly destructive to societies and detrimental to the human psyche. And yeah, all these dogmatic free market religious kool aid drinking righties can label me a “socialist” “a marxist” or whatever. I can give a flying f$ck. Fact of the matter is, there is a class warfare going on in the US. The the filthy top 1% are handing the bottom 99%’s asses to them.
Capitalism doesn’t work. It makes people greedy and kills progressivism. As long as corporations and the huge imbalance in social classes exist, the human race will not advance. Call me a radical, I don’t care.
Bloody disgusting. At least the right get the representation they deserve from the party of no. Obama is coming across like Haley Mills in Pollyanna. But at least Pollyanna got some results.
You have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. How does someone get to be your age and know so little about how the world works? It’s beyond me. Sarcasm does not equal understanding.
Yes… please do vote third party… or not at all. Those of us who pay attention to what’s going on in the world around us would greatly appreciate it.
